I had the huge honor of photographing sweet, baby RomanI first met Roman’s momma when I photographed his older brother 3 years ago, she is now a dear friend of mine. When she asked me if I would photograph her second, I was of course elated. Below are some of my favorite images from the session. Make sure to scroll down to those sibling shots, my heart just bursts when I look at them.
Mateo had his 6 month mini session, and did not disappoint. Not only is this little man absolutely adorable, he’s SUCH a happy baby. I think I could just look at him, and he would smile/giggle at me. His countless expressions, just melt my heart…Every. single. one. of. them!!
Here are some of my favs from his session:
Anytime I receive an inquiry I get so excited. Another opportunity to snuggle a sweet little babe, and meet an adoring family. However; when it’s twins I get down right giddy There’s just something about the bond they share, that I can’t get enough of. Sutton and Briar came into this world with 3 more instant besties. Their sibling are all under the age of five, and just beaming with pride for their little sisters. Check out some of my favorites from their session!
Randi Forschler is not only a long time client of mine, but also a child sleep specialist and the proud owner of Tiny Onezzz Consulting, LLC. She was generous enough to share some of her thoughts & tips on getting those bebes some much needed sleep!! Here’s what she has to say..
No matter what your parenting philosophy or child’s sleeping arrangement is, there are things you can do to set your child up for success with sleep. Below are three things you can implement to improve your little one’s current sleeping arrangement.
- Timing is EVERYTHING! Little ones can only handle so much stimulation and awake time between sleep periods before they go into overload mode and become overtired. It’s important to get them down for naps and bedtime before they reach this period. When the body becomes overtired, it releases the stress hormone cortisol. Once this occurs, falling asleep and staying asleep becomes more difficult for your little one since they will be more alert and restless. Below is a guide of average awake periods each age range can handle, but always follow your child’s sleep cues.
|Newborns – 3 months||45 minutes – 1.5 hours|
|3 months – 6 months||1.5 hours – 3 hours|
|6 months – 12 months||2.5 hours – 3.5 hours|
|1 year – 3 years||4 hours – 6 hours|
|3 years – 5 years||
6 hours – 12 hours
- Children thrive on routines. Having a nightly bedtime routine will help your child know that night time is approaching. This is something you can start as early as day 1 with your little one. It doesn’t have to be lengthy, the goal is to allow your child to settle down and relax before bedtime. Keep things low key and quiet, eliminate electronics 60 minutes before the start of the routine, and spend time in your child’s bedroom. I highly recommend including a bath in your nightly routine. Time spent in the water is a different experience for little ones so it will quickly be associated with bedtime. Warm baths are also great because they allow our body temperature to cool down more quickly, which is what the body wants to do at bed time. Below is an example of what a bedtime routine could look like.
- Lotion & Pajamas
- Read Books/Sing Songs
- Night feedings, while exhausting, are part of being a parent of an infant. These feedings are necessary for your little one to get adequate nutrition, however there are things you can do to limit the time it takes your child to fall back asleep during the night. In order to prevent your child from mixing up night and day, eliminate any play time during the night feeds. Keep the room quiet and as dark as possible during the feeding and stay in your child’s sleeping room resisting the urge to go into the living room and turn on the TV. The goal is to eliminate night time disruptions for your child so he or she is able to go back to sleep more easily.

I met miss Grace when she was just 3 months old baby, and now she’s already 2!! She has always been so well behaved, and I enjoy every session we have together. Graces mommy scheduled a snow session back in the fall, for February. I couldn’t believe when the day finally came, and we were in the 50’s!!! For Iowa it felt like a heat wave. You can just tell from the pictures, how full of life and sweet this little lady is. We ended the session wearing her favorite kitty hat. Here are just a few of my favorites from her session..
